NOX
Youngstown, OhioKnown simply as NOX (an acronym for N.oise O.f E.xcitement), the Youngstown, Ohio rhymester takes swagger and inventive lyrical heat to new heights on his first studio album, The N.oise O.f X.citement (King Ape Entertainment). His big dreams of being a Hip-Hop superstar were fueled by his passion for making good music and entertaining, much like the artists he grew up listening to such as: OutKast, Common, Busta Rhymes, The Isley Brothers, Rick James, Cameo, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Bootsie Collins.
NOX jumpstarted his career at 7 years old when he would tag along to watch his big sister Candee Reign open shows for the likes of Heavy D and Salt N Pepa and soon thereafter became her hype man A seasoned vet in the game by the time he was 11, Nox was penning his own lyrics and winning praises of all those within ear and eye shot distance. “Just being able to see other artists doing what I knew I was gifted with doing motivated me to continue rocking the mic,” explains Nox about his inspiration to follow his passion. “Performing so young in front of large crowds before I was even a teenager gave me a feeling that I can’t put into words.”
The thumping lead single, “Move” featuring label mate Pryslezz is a certified club banger that effectively intertwines lighthearted bounce with compelling lyrics. Although still putting the finishing touches on the LP, the rapper/songwriter promises that every cut will be a vibrant and skillfully arranged blend of show stopping jams that embody vivid narratives amidst multi-toned bass and hushed grooves. A smart, solid and spectacular debut that runs the gamut of emotions and is a mix of slow, mid and up-tempo cuts, one thing listeners can expect from The N.oise O.f X.citement is excitement. “I’m a fun person and love to make people laugh and that element is definitely in my songs. If I could give what I do a new genre, I would title it Techno Soul Hop; a new-aged sound with a splash of Soul that’s rooted in Hip Hop.”
