Penny Framstad

Singer Songwriter Penny Framstad has been performing since the age of 8 years old. Born and raised in Santa Cruz, California Penny was exposed to an eclectic range of music but found herself drawn to the thought provoking singer/songwriters of her youth that have greatly influenced her writing. She writes and performs on guitar and piano and her unique voice and songs have received critical acclaim from Hits Magazine, CMJ's "A&R Pick of the Week," The San Francisco's Chronicle (Datebook feature story), Music Biz, and Music Connection Magazine to name a few. Penny has co-written songs with Academy Award, Grammy Award, and CMA Award winning songwriters who have a played a major role in developing her artistry to what it is today. Penny's songs have been featured in such hit films as White Chicks, and 10 Things I Hate About You (and on the soundtrack that has sold over 500,000 copies) as well as hit TV shows The Office, Scrubs, Summerland, Everwood, Las Vegas, Dawson’s Creek, Providence, Jag, Roswell, The Real World, Law & Order, and more. Framstad has performed at such venues as The House of Blues, The Viper Room, Nashville’s Bluebird Café, Marin’s Sweetwater, ASCAP’s Quiet on the Set, and has opened shows for many national acts. During the heyday of MP3.com Penny held the #1 spot in both Pop and Rock categories for weeks, and held the #8 position over all categories and had over 247,000 downloads. Alanis Morissette favorably reviewed Penny’s music as well as VHI who listed her as a “Future Star”. Penny now resides in Los Angeles, California. She co-writes and co-produces both signed and unsigned recording artists.
