Los Angeles, CaliforniaSilena was signed by Doug Morris of Universal Motown in 2004. While at Universal she established and audience of over 12 million with her 2006 radio release “Bring it home,” which debuted at number 34 on the Urban AC chart. It was the most added song of the week, and given great reviews on Itunes. Silena wrote “Bring it home” with Greg Curtis, and Scott Storch. You can hear Silena currently on air waves of the Dream song: “Shorty is a 10”; she is the female feature singing on his single produced by Tricky Stewart in 2007.
Silena is a great singer, song writer, and performer; she wrote and released the first soundtrack to a book with Harper Collins. A Major New York based book publisher. Her song 'I like my man hard' was the featured sound track for the Harper Collins “Sex. Lies. Murder. Fame.” which was authored by Lolita Files. Silena toured with Lolita Files, in several cities, performed at book signings; where she distributed autographed copies of her CD. They set precedence, as it was the first time a recording artist toured with an author, and it was a success. 5000 promotional book copies included the bonus: Silena Murrell featured CD, adding the perfect musical back drop to the novel. “I like my man hard,” was also produced by Scott Storch, and was added to numerous playlists online, and mix tapes on the streets. Many bootlegs and leaks of her song are online, on satellite radio, and are being played in clubs and in many underground venues. Silena Murrell has been on WBLS in New York KJLH Los Angeles, Chicago and other national stations. Her songs are also heard today on Sirus, XM ,Yahoo, Radio Ipods, and cell phones, The “Bring home” ring tone is still available on all cell phones. Silena lived in Atlanta by way of California where she grew up, and New Jersey where was born. Music has been her passion all her life, and she has been singing and performing since she was a toddler, she costarred in the musical "Making it" which was directed by Tony award winner George Faizon, and many other productions thru out LA
While pursuing music, Silena completed her Bachelors Degree at California State University Northridge. She was writing and recording at night, and performing frequently with every moment she had. She has sung backgrounds and adlibs for Aaliyah, Tamia, and KC & JoJo just to name a few. She has also written songs for other artists as well (The Braxton’s, Cut Close). She is currently doing what she does so well; which is performing live and connecting with people. She is a real singer and a breath of fresh AIR! Silena's talent is both natural and polished. And her spirit lights up the room. She is a true diamond in the rough! It is a pleasure to witness her in her element.
