The Cinema

Gilbert, AZ / Atlanta, GA

The Cinema is the collaboration between Leighton Antelman of Lydia and producer Matt Malpass (Lydia, All Get Out). While producing Lydia's 'Assailants' album, Malpass played Antelman a few electronic-based tracks he had been working on in his free time. Antelman slurred some vocal melodies on top of one of the tracks at 3AM the day before heading home to Los Angeles, and thus was The Cinema born. Antelman later flew back to Atlanta, where Malpass is located, several times to work on and finish the group's debut album, 'My Blood Is Full Of Airplanes,' which was released on September 13th, 2011 to critical acclaim. The album debuted on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and earned the group a pick as one of iTunes' 'Rising Stars of Alt Rock.'
